About
"Lullaby" is a song by English rock band the Cure from their eighth studio album, Disintegration (1989). The song was released as the lead single from the album in April 1989. Lullaby is a ballad composed by Robert Smith and produced by the band's long-standing collaborator Dave Allen. One of the group's most successful songs, "Lullaby" reached number five on the UK Singles Chart and number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. "Lullaby," a well-known and popular cure song, was inspired by a recurring nightmare Robert Smith had as a youngster in which he was consumed by a huge spider. According to Smith, the song is about the horrors of sleep. The song's music video, directed by Tim Pope, features a giant spider that terrorizes a city. The video received heavy rotation on MTV, helping to propel "Lullaby" to become one of the best-known songs from Disintegration. "Lullaby" has been included in several of the Cure's live albums and compilations, including Entreat (1989), Curiosa (2004), Join the Dots: B-Sides & Rarities 1978–2001 (2004), The Cure: Greatest Hits (2001), and Acoustic Hits (2006). In 2012, Rolling Stone ranked "Lullaby" at number 318 on their list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". In October 2014, NME ranked it at number 93 on their list of "The 150 Best Tracks of the '80s". The song was also included in the band's 2016 greatest hits album, Greatest Hits. The popular cure song is featured in the tv shows "Misfits", "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina", "Dead of Summer" and "902010"
