First introduced to Fred Neil by a folksinger relative just after his best album was re-released with the success of "Midnight Cowboy," and the Nilsson cover of "Everybody's Talking." He mentored everyone from Stephen Stills to Dylan in the NY folk scene, but his unaffected, rich, baritone voice stood timeless, outside any musical genre; listen to "The Dolphins," which presaged his retirement and reclusive retreat to Florida. Love the way this show finds real musical treasures instead of overplayed familiar tropes.
