While driving, Simone consumes an ice cream cone. Hat tells her over the phone that she is returning from the train. Simone asks if Hat have time for a drink.
Simone gets at her father's house. He strikes the grass with a walking stick made of wood. He tells her that the dandelions are taking over the grass when she asks what he is doing.

At a party, young Tess and Simone dance to the song. Simone promises Tess that they will dance, swim, and watch the sun rise in response to her statement that she doesn't want the evening to end.
Hat shows up at Simone's book launch party and starts flipping through a book. While working at a busy tavern as a teenager, Tess and Simone would swallow beers one after the other, and she recognizes bits and pieces of their lives from that time.

At night, Hat reads Simone's book in bed. The scenario in the tavern has Hat and Joey tending to the bar while Tess and Simone indulge in alcohol and dancing. After a while, Simone returns to the bar's rear where she finds Tess lying on the floor, dwarfed by Joey and two other lads.
In a flashback, Hat's boss instructs her to sweep the floor at the pub after one of her buddies spilled beer over a man's head. Her current spouse, Mark, says to Hat that he would want to assist her with the drinks.
In her car, Hat is playing a CD. She looks at pictures of Simone and Tess and herself when she was younger. After reading the years-old police statement she provided, she feels bad for not reporting what she witnessed on the night Tess was beaten.

Many surfers honor Sean, who passed away while surfing, by surfing. On the beach, Lily and Joey's nephew have a kiss.
When Tess and Vicki go for a nighttime stroll on the beach, they see Lily smoking and lewdly dancing in a man's arms. She's dressed in the red dress that Tess had on when she was attacked. Lily responds that she found the dress in the trash when Tess tells her daughter the dress is not hers. Lily responds that she is waiting for Jason, defying the mothers' requests for her to leave the celebration.

Lily is picked up in Simone's automobile after she spots her waiting for a bus. Lily puts this song on and wants to play some music.
Simone heads to the Oceanview pub to find Lily. Despite being told she is not wanted there, Joey's mother continues to look for the girl. She meets little Simone in the basement, who tells adult Simone that she was merely standing there because she was afraid and intoxicated.

Nat enters the pub with a confident gait. She informs Joey that she is aware that he assisted the police and put his brother in jail. She has it wrong, he says her as he drags her into another room. Nat assures him that she is correct.
Using her laptop, Tess writes. When Simone gives her a phone, she discovers it's a pocket dial. She smiles and hangs up the phone, able to hear Simone talking to her father. Tess has come to terms with her history, and Simone is still writing. She steps into the ocean and dove into the water, with the Sydney Opera House in the backdrop.
