The Heavy Band is an English rock band from Nottingham, England. The group consists of singer and guitarist Kelvin Swaby, bassist Dan Taylor, drummer Chris Ellesmere, and keyboardist Andrew Graham. The Heavy band's sound has been described as a mix of classic rock, blues, and soul. Their debut album, Great Vengeance and Furious Fire was released in September 2007. The one that followed, "The House That Dirt Built," was released in 2009. The band's third official album, The Glorious Dead, was released in 2012 and it debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. The Heavy Band has toured extensively, both as headliners and as support act for bands such as Muse, Queens of the Stone Age, and Foo Fighters. In 2013, the band performed at the Glastonbury Festival and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song for their song "What Makes a Good Man?". The Heavy were named the artist of the day in Spin on 26 March 2008. In May of the same year, the band was also mentioned in the Rolling Stone Hot List. They also played at the South By Southwest (SXSW) music festival in 2008 on the 89.3 Current Stage where they collected a Best Discovery award in Spin Magazine's "Best and Worst of SXSW 2008."
