The song was a commercial success, peaking at number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Hot Rap Songs chart. Additionally, it attained gold certification in the United States from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The song's accompanying music video was directed by Rupert Wainwright and features Hammer dancing in front of a live-action version of The Addams Family mansion. The video was nominated for Best Rap Video at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards. "Addams Groove" has been used in various forms of pop culture over the years. In 2010, it was featured in an episode of the animated television series The Simpsons. Additionally, a cover version by Swedish musician Hugo Raspoet was used in a 2016 commercial for the Volvo V90.
