Lyrics

Every man has a place, in his heart there's a space And the world can't erase his fantasies Take a ride in the sky, on our ship, Fantasii All your dreams will come true, right away And we will live together, until the twelfth of never Our voices will ring forever, as one Every thought is a dream, rushing by in a stream Bringing life to our kingdom of doing Take a ride in the sky, on our ship, Fantasii All your dreams will come true, miles away Our voices will ring together until the twelfth of never We all, will live forever, as one Come see victory, in the land called, "Fantasty" Loving life, a new decree, Bring your mind to everlasting liberty Our minds will explore together, old worlds, we conquer, forever We then, will expand love together, as one Come to see, victory in a land called, "Fantasty" Loving life, for you and me, to behold, to your soul is ecstasy You will find, other kind, that has been in search for you Many lives has brought you to Recognize it's your life, now in review And as you stay for the play, fantasy, has in store for you A glowing light will see you through It's your day, shining day, all your dreams come true As you glide, in your stride with the wind, as you fly away Give a smile, from your lips, and say I am free, yes I'm free, now I'm on my way Come to see victory In a land called, "Fantasty" Loving life for you and me To behold, to your soul is ecstasy You will find other kind That has been in search of you Many lives has brought you to Recognize, it's your life now in review (ahh-ohh) Ohh, ohh, oh, ohh

About

Earth, Wind & Fire's hit song "Fantasy" was a single released by Columbia Records in 1978.. The song was written by Maurice White, Verdine White and Al McKay, and produced by Maurice White. "Fantasy" peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot Soul Songs chart, No. 32 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, No. 2 on the Cash Box Top 100, and No. 14 on the UK Singles chart. In 1999, "Fantasy" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In 2008, the song was ranked at number fifty-two on Billboard's Greatest Songs of All Time list. The song has been described a "feel-good" track. In an interview with Melody Maker, Maurice explained the song's meaning: "The song 'Fantasy' is motivated about escapism in the sense of living on a world that is untrue, a world that is unjust, a world that is very selfish and envious, there is a place that everyone can escape to which is their own fantasy. I had to write the song in the sense of sharing this place with people. It's an escape mechanism." Maurice White's drumming on the track has been described as "uplifting" and "catchy". The song received critical acclaim. The track was praised for its well-written lyrics, with Albumism's Matthew Hocter noting that the song was "sung to perfection" by Martha Wash and that it "put the band into a different lane. Doing the original version immense justice." Bill Coleman from Billboard dubbed it as an "highlight" of the album. Another reviewer, Larry Flick, called the song a "sleaze-speed house rendition" and an "ethereal remix emphasizing plush strings and Martha Wash's unmistakable voice." Ernest Hardy from Cashbox also selected the song as a "standout." Black Box's version of this song, which was released in 1990, reached No. 5 in the United Kingdom, No. 16 in Germany, and number three in Australia. In 2013, Australian music channel Max included Black Box' version of the song in their list of "1000 Greatest Songs of All Time". Martha Wash, who was also a vocalist in C+C Music Factory provided the lead vocals on the track. The song has been used in a number of films and TV series, including Private Lessons (1981) and Be Cool (2005). It was also featured in the television program Everybody Hates Chris. The 1981 feature film Private Lessons, the 1997 feature film The Sixth Man, the 2005 feature film Be Cool, and the 2006 video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories also all had "Fantasy" on their soundtrack. It's also in season 2 of Bob's Burgers' "Bad Tina" (2012), as well as at the conclusion of Disney+'s Godmother. "Fantasy" also appears in the second season of 2012 Bob's Burgers episode, "Bad Tina" and at the end of the 2020 Disney+ movie, Godmothered.
