The first installment of the Twilight Saga debuted more than fifteen years ago. Adapted from the book series written by Stephanie Meyers, the cult following for the vampire romance took off fairly quickly. The films, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, Bill Condon, David Slade, and Chris Weitz delivered one of the most beloved film series of all time. Beloved character portrayals from actors Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and many other actors initially captivated the series’ fanbase.

Beyond the stellar performances from the entire cast, most of what is memorable from the franchise is the music. In addition to the unique score, the soundtrack builds a romantic and dramatic atmosphere for the story. The selection of music throughout the five films creates a curated playlist that will instantly take you back to the most iconic scenes. Each film has more than a couple of songs that stick out and create an emotional connection for the fans.

The first Twilight has a hopeful feel to it as the franchise originally begins with low stakes. The Twilight Saga: New Moon is the most somber film of the franchise and has some of the most melancholy tracks. The first sequel has some of the saddest songs of any of the films, as Bella’s character deals with heartbreak. The saga continues with Twilight: Eclipse and wraps up with Twilight: Breaking Dawn Pt. 1 & 2, delivering ample doses of vampire-centric romance, drama, and hope.

It gets a little silly, at times, particularly in the special-effects department, but Stewart and Pattinson are a quite mesmerising pair, and their twitchy, sidelong glances play out a duet of unspoken yearning that might just get under your skin.Independent (UK)

"Supermassive Black Hole" - Muse

The introduction of this track instantly brings viewers back to that iconic scene. In a seemingly normal vampire interaction, the Cullen family completely dominates a game of baseball. As the song picks up, every action in the baseball game is heightened and highlighted. From the crack of thunder to the intensity of how the bat swings against the ball. Only the instrumentals of the song are played, creating an even more intense atmosphere of the Cullens family game. If you have seen the film, you know this leads to an intense interaction with another clan of vampires.

'New Moon' is little more than a skilful soap opera, but it's still enjoyable escapism - even if you're old and wise enough to see through it.Time Out

"Possibility" - Lykke Li

This track sets the melancholic tone for the vibe of The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Bella’s split from Edward and his world leaves her in a state of depression and heartbreak. After months of no contact, this song represents the time passing her by as she yearns for Edward’s return. Not only does the song reflect her heartbreak, but Bella’s narration testifies to the depressive feeling this entire scene brings. Of course, the song is followed by Alice’s abandonment and the nightmares Bella begins to deal with.

It's easy to knock the Twilightfilms, with their taste for cheesy special effects and teenage hyper-ventilation, but the feelings that course through them are honest enough -- just your average old-fashioned romantic-masochistic teen-dream rapture.Daily Telegraph (UK)

"With You In My Head" - UNKLE (ft. The Black Angels)

In The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, there is hope yet again for Bella’s story as the plot picks up from her rekindled love. Despite the curfew she is put under, her character soon realizes there is a more pressing issue. With a group of vampires after Bella, this scene is action-packed and fun, showcasing the abilities of the vampires and wolves in the film. As the song picks up, practice fights between the characters are portrayed. The song is fairly upbeat and shares the creatures’ skills and the lengths they will go to in defense of Bella Swan.

The last twenty minutes of Breaking Dawn are so harrowing that it's possible to forget that most of the acting is soap-operatic (the guy who plays Carlisle is aging to look like Liberace) and the dialogue from hunger.New York Magazine

"Cold" - Aqualung & Lucy Schwartz

This film shows even more promise for the trajectory of Bella’s life as a future vampire. However, when she marries Edward straight out of high school she soon finds herself pregnant. This film shows a downward slope of her life as the pregnancy takes a toll on her human life. As this song builds, it shows Bella’s decline from the point of view of the entire Cullen family. The most concern comes from Edward and Jacob Black. On the couch, Bella lies as the haunting song plays in the background. At the same time, a budding relationship between the vampires and a few wolf members is shown.

The fifth and final instalment of the Twilight saga has the best climax of any blockbuster this year.London Evening Standard

"A Thousand Years" - Christina Perri (ft. Steve Kazee)

This song seems to represent the entirety of the film franchise, with a promise of forever. In the final scene of the movie, Bella extends her gift to Edward with a slideshow of some sort. This scene is not only special for the characters but also nostalgic for the fanbase. As they revisit some of the films’ most iconic scenes as this song plays. It shares their journey together from when they met to when she turned into a vampire. Of course, the characters exchange a cheesy dialogue and wrap up their love story in the film franchise
