Ian returns home to his wife, Louise, from his trip to Scotland, he presents her with a mink coat and she presents him with a lukewarm greeting; In Scotland, Ian's cousin, Niall Campbell, 10th Duke of Argyll, lies died on the floor of the family's Inveraray Castle passing the dukedom to Ian with his death.
After seeing a newspapers expose on Ian and Margaret's love affair, Louise discusses the two and the rumors surrounding Margaret with friend, Janet Kidd, who knows Margaret personally and attempts to convince her to divorce Ian.
In 1951, Margaret and Ian marry along side their children from their previous marriages then have photos taken to commemorate the happy day of the blending of their families.

Inside the powder room at Jeanne's birthday party, Margaret brings up her frustrations with Jeanne's mother and Ian's first wife, Janet, to Janet who in turns tries smooth things over with her with advise on Ian which Margaret rebuffs.
Margaret heads out with Peter Combe for the night where they dance, drink and smoke at a club throughout the night.
Margaret slow dances with a few men throughout the night, slowly the club empties out as it grows on into the morning until Margaret is left alone on the dance floor.
