S5:EP1 A Second Chance

This is the opening theme.

Bert drives his tow truck down the highway while drinking from a travel cup. He pulls over after seeing a man standing beside a pickup truck by the side of the road and asks him if he needs assistance.

The Sewing Circle women are working at a table at Jack's pub while a young woman holds baby Chloe. Tara presents her sister, Eva, to Mel as she approaches their table after arriving.

Preacher was able to show Paige what a wonderful man is, she tells him. She moves in for a kiss and his eyes are shining with tears. She gets in her car and drives off.

Jack sees a father and his two sons out for a stroll. As they pass in front of him, he looks at them. Mel works behind the bar. Mel explains to Eva that although she initially thought she could mend the rip in her robe, stitching silk is not for novices.

Mel jogs down a wooded path near the river’s side. She pauses and looks across the rippling river at the snow-capped mountains. She remembers grabbing a Fleetwood Mac record out of a crate with her sister Joey.

When Mel enters the establishment, she inquires about Jack's whereabouts and Preacher replies that Jack is still hiking with Brie.

On the couch at the cabin, Jack and Mel cuddle. She gives him praise during supper for being a good sport.

A throng is in front of the preacher as he toasts Jack and Mel. Later, Jack falls while intoxicated. Adam unexpectedly shows up and asks Jack why he let the man fall off the roof. When Jack opens his eyes, Mel informs him he had a nightmare as she approaches him and strokes his arm.

Kaia enters as Preacher tallies the receipts behind the bar. She informs him that she really enjoyed his sandwich. She requests Preacher's company and accepts his offer of a tequila.

Water in a tiny creek ripples across rocks as the sun rises behind the woods. Mel and Jack drive their car down a woodland road.

Doc takes out his and Hope's framed wedding photograph. He smiles regretfully as he observes it. Doc blinks, casting shadows over the picture.

Over the phone, Brie's mother alerts her of the blaze near Virgin River.

Brie declares her love for her mother. They see news clips of people being evacuated from Grace Valley. Fires rage through the Virgin River woodlands, sending clouds of smoke into the twilight. Bert offers water bottles to the gathered residents. Everyone applauds when a plane drops water on the blaze.

When Jack enters the tent, he queries Mel about the situation. Mel sobs and envelops him. She apologizes while crying on his shoulder.

S5:EP7 From The Ashes

In a wooded clearing, burned-out trees wither, and a welcome sign is perched outside the burned-out shell of a building. From a group of trees, smoke is rising. Brie visits Virgin River once more.

Over the mountains, the sun is shining. Boxes are carried by park visitors when they enter. Under a big tent, tables are put up. As Denny approaches, Doc accepts a box from a man, Muriel arranges clothing, and Lizzie prepares a roll of lottery tickets.

The song is heard on the end credits.

S5:EP8 Full Moon

Mel moves across the floor while the music is playing. She moves to the music while lip-syncing. She swings her arms and tosses her hair before singing into a spatula. From the door, Jack observes her.

Kaia catches a glimpse of Preacher in the woods. They put on the helmets while seated on motorbikes. On a rocky wooded path, Preacher follows Kaia as she sprints ahead.

Muriel goes in for a passionate kiss with Cameron. He apologizes and informs her that he cannot date her since he told Doc he would keep things more formal.

Preacher chooses a tune from the record player. He says it's alright if he closes up by himself when Hannah asks whether that's acceptable. He promises her that he will close the register and head to the carnival with the others. Kaia walks into the bar after he scrubs the counter and tells him he is staying in California.

The carnival rides twirl and spin. Preacher tosses balls into a container to earn a reward, Denny plays a game where he sits behind a water pistol, and Hope, Jo Ellen, and Lydia spin around in a gigantic strawberry cart.

Jack and Mel go on a Ferris wheel ride. She explains to him that she took him along for the journey to give him an other viewpoint. As the fireworks burst, the audience applauds. On their way home, she asks him if they may make a detour.

Jack is shown a piece of property by Mel, who tells him he might construct a house there. She says they may purchase the farm when Ava sells it. He gives her a kiss and tells her the concept is great.

Mel decorates the cottage with a wreath. Jack exclaims that he hopes they are excited about spending their first Christmas in Virgin River as she talks with Joey on the phone. Mel is notified by Joey that she discovered a collection of love letters from Virgin River that were sent to their mother.

Shopping is underway for Christmas presents. Brady and Lark are skating on the ice.

John gets the gifts ready and chats with Kaia about their shared Christmas customs.
