Another Round Soundtrack
About the Soundtrack
Released in 2020, Another Round is a Danish drama written and directed by Thomas Vinterberg. It follows four middle-aged teachers as they attempt to experiment with a theory that suggests one should maintain a constant level of intoxication as a way to enhance their lives. Through the course of the film, we witness how this decision affects them both positively and negatively. The film stars Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen and Lars Ranthe in the lead roles as the teachers who experiment with this theory. The cast is further supported by a strong ensemble of supporting actors including Magnus Millang, Maria Bonnevie, Helene Reingaard Neumann and Susse Wold. The performances from all the actors are excellent, with Mads Mikkelsen in particular delivering an outstanding performance as Martin, the teacher whose life drastically changes after he and his friends start to experiment with this theory. Another Round is a thought-provoking film that explores the effects of alcohol on our lives without taking any moral stance on it. The film creates an engaging atmosphere, as we watch the characters struggle to maintain a balance amid the chaos that ensues after they start drinking. It also touches on themes such as friendship, responsibility and personal growth in an emotional yet often humorous way. Another Round is a great movie that features some wonderful Danish songs. The atmosphere of the film is deeply enhanced by the use of music and it really helps to increase the emotion throughout the story. The range of genres in the soundtrack, from sad ballads to upbeat pop songs, helps bring out different elements of the characters’ lives and make them more real. Some of the tracks include “I Danmark er jeg født” by Poul Schierbeck. Scarlet Pleasure's' song "What A Life" was featured prominently in Another Round. The upbeat track compliments the movie's themes of embracing life and taking risks. Its positive lyrics lend a hopeful message to viewers: “If you want it, go get it / Ain’t nobody gonna stop you.” Its shimmering production and catchy hook make it a fun listening experience, even long after the movie's credits roll. The movie also features musical score by acclaimed Danish composer Kasper Winding. His work adeptly captures the characters' feelings throughout the film, from scenes of joy to moments of introspection.
