Kaleo is an Icelandic rock band from the town of Mosfellsbær. The band members are Jökull Júlíusson, Ragnar Þórhallsson, Daníel Óliver Einarsson, and Ari Páll Magnússon. The band formed in 2012 and their first EP, Kaleo, was released in 2013. The band is named after the Hawaiian word for "voice". The band's debut album, A/B, was released in 2016 and peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 chart. The album's lead single, "Way Down We Go", peaked at number two on the Alternative Songs chart. Kaleo's music has been described as a mix of blues, folk, and rock. The band has been described as "a cross between Mumford & Sons and Kings of Leon". Their music has been featured in several films and television shows, including Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Suits and Logan. Kaleo has won several awards, including the European Border Breakers Award in 2016 and the Icelandic Music Award for Best Album of the Year. They have a strong touring presence, and have toured alongside artists including Ed Sheeran, Of Monsters and Men, and Imagine Dragons. The band has also performed at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Coachella. During 2015, Kaleo signed a deal with Atlantic Records and relocated to Austin, Texas.
